What is ISO 9001?

ISO 9001 is part of a family of standards stated to represent effective quality management practices. It is by far the most influential of ISO standards in management and has a vast take up across the business world.
In some logistics chains (Oil & Gas, Marine, Energy etc) it’s almost a must have and appears in vendor questionnaires across all spheres of business.
The family consists of standards and guidelines relating to quality management systems and related supporting standards.
It is not a prescriptive standard, it defines what must be achieved ……..not how you must achieve it…………that’s down to you.By understanding your business and representing it accordingly QSE does not create unnecessary paperwork but interprets the standards requirements for your business.

ISO 9001 is applicable to any business regardless of whether it is a manufacturer or a service industry, a multi site large organization or a small intimate family concern, regardless of what the user organization does, its size, or whether it is in the private, or public sector. It is the only standard in the family against which organizations can be certified – although certification is not a compulsory requirement of the standard.
